Laser Clinic Galway offers PDT (Photo Dynamic Therapy) Laser Enhanced treatments for active Acne Vulgaris, to reduce Fine Lines and Wrinkles and to reduce dark circles or blue/black discolouration under the eyes.

How does the treatment work?

PDT represents the cutting edge of research in light based therapy, and works in two stages: A photosensitizer spray is applied to the skin, and the body converts this into a chemical product that will respond then, more quickly and effectively, to the light pulse treatment (within a certain safe wavelength).

What can I expect?

The Photo Facial helps lighten or eliminate sun damage, brown spots, broken capillaries and rosacea. When used in combination with the “Intense” photo spray, fine lines and wrinkles are dramatically reduced; collagen is rapidly produced and those who have received these treatments report that their skin “glows” with a more radiant appearance. Aside of the face, other parts of the body can be treated such as the neck, chest, arms and hands.

How many treatments do I need

A course of 4 treatments is recommended, at 4 week intervals.

How long does the treatment take?

One hour before the treatment you will need to attend at the Clinic and apply the photosensitiser spray every 5 minutes for 60minutes.  A full-face treatment takes less than 20 minutes. You should see an improvement after the first treatment, but 4 treatments may be required to achieve the full effect.

Does the treatment hurt?

No anaesthetics are required, and many patients describe the treatment as practically pain-free, like a flick from a rubber band followed by a sensation similar to the feeling of gentle warmth after a day on the beach.

Please kindly note: we are unable to treat anyone who is wearing a false tan and those who have recently gained a sun-tan.
